Large breed dogs are often steered toward specific joint-conscious feeding, but the more basic reason a large breed recipe exists is simpler — it comes as a bigger kibble, built for a bigger mouth, on the same limited-ingredient thinking as the standard-size version.

This James Wellbeloved recipe is built around dried turkey protein (25%), with naked oats, brown rice (13%), white rice (13%), poultry fat, barley, whole linseed (3.5%), turkey gravy, sugar beet pulp, pea fibre, alfalfa meal, pea protein, seaweed (0.5%), minerals, fish oil, nettles, parsley, chicory extract (0.1%), glucosamine (0.045%), yucca extract (0.02%) and chondroitin. It's the large breed version, formulated to exclude beef, pork, soya, eggs, dairy and wheat.

• Protein 24.2%, fat content 14.5%, crude ash 7.1%, crude fibre 3.3%
• Omega-3 fatty acids 1.0%, omega-6 fatty acids 3.2%
• Vitamin E at 150mg/kg
• Single source animal protein: turkey
• Large breed kibble size
• 15KG sack

On the other Turkey & Rice. James Wellbeloved also sell a standard adult Turkey & Rice recipe under the same Turkey & Rice name, and the two are not identical — this is the large breed kibble, sized and formulated for a bigger dog rather than a bigger bag of the standard version. If you already feed the standard recipe, don't assume the two bags are interchangeable.

Who it's for: owners of a large adult dog with a suspected sensitivity to a common protein, who want turkey as the single named source in a kibble sized for a bigger dog.
