Lamb gets marketed as a gentler protein than chicken or beef, but nutritionally it's still just another animal protein — what actually makes a recipe suit a sensitive dog is having one clear source rather than several stacked together, whichever meat that source happens to be.

This James Wellbeloved recipe is built around dried lamb protein (25%), with barley, brown rice (13%), white rice (13%), naked oats, poultry fat, pea protein, whole linseed (3.5%), lamb gravy, sugar beet pulp, alfalfa meal, pea fibre, seaweed (0.5%), minerals, fish oil, nettles, parsley, chicory extract (0.1%), glucosamine (0.045%), yucca extract (0.02%) and chondroitin (0.005%). It's sold in large breed and small breed kibble sizes and excludes beef, pork, soya, eggs, dairy and wheat.

• Protein 23.5%, fat content 14.5%, crude ash 8.7%, crude fibre 3.4%
• Omega-3 fatty acids 0.80%, omega-6 fatty acids 1.4%
• Vitamin E at 150mg/kg
• Single source animal protein: lamb
• Available in large breed and small breed kibble
• 15KG sack

On the size versions. The card doesn't give separate nutritional figures for the large and small breed kibble sizes — the difference is normally in the kibble shape and size, built for different jaws, rather than in the recipe itself. Treat the figures above as the shared recipe across both.

Who it's for: owners of an adult dog with a suspected sensitivity to a common protein, who want lamb as the single named source in a size matched to their dog.
