A working dog doing a moderate amount rather than a punishing amount of exercise needs a feed pitched between an everyday maintenance diet and a full racing formula, which is the gap this kind of medium-energy recipe is built to fill.

Gilpa Kennel is made from wheat, poultry meal (15% chicken), maize, chicken fat, whey, yeast, vitamins and minerals, linseed, yucca extract, mixed herbs at 1,800mg/kg and an extract of New Zealand green-lipped mussel at 200mg/kg. Analysis gives 20% crude protein, 10% crude oils and fats and 6% crude ash. It's sold here as a complete food for a medium energy level.

• Crude protein 20%, crude oils and fats 10%, crude ash 6%
• Poultry meal at 15% chicken
• New Zealand green-lipped mussel extract, 200mg/kg
• Mixed herbs, 1,800mg/kg
• Yucca extract and linseed also included
• 15KG bag

On the mussel extract. Green-lipped mussel is included at a quantified 200mg/kg, and Gilpa's own line on it is that it's a natural source of glucosamine — that's as far as this card can take it, since no dosage or joint-health claim beyond that description is on the label.

Who it's for: owners of active or working dogs who want a mid-energy formula rather than the top-end protein and fat of a full racing feed, and who like the idea of a named joint-support ingredient in the mix.
