Freshly frozen salmon and salmon meal each make up 19% of the recipe, with potato, whole peas and sweet potato providing the carbohydrate rather than wheat. Fructooligosaccharides and mannanoligosaccharides — both natural prebiotics — sit at 0.25% and 0.15% respectively, and sodium hexametaphosphate is included as a dental additive.

One thing worth knowing. Grain-free is not the same claim as hypoallergenic, and Eukanuba's own reasoning here is about limiting animal protein sources to reduce the risk of a reaction, not about ruling out every possible trigger — maize gluten and pea starch are both in the ingredient list. If a vet has already identified a specific allergen, check it against the composition before switching.
