A dog labelled hypoallergenic by a manufacturer is usually being kept away from one specific thing rather than allergens in general, and here that thing is stated plainly: this recipe is made without any added wheat and without any form of chicken.

Duck meal and salmon meal each make up 14% of the recipe, alongside whole grain maize, whole grain rice (20%) and whole grain barley (18%), with peas (4%), sunflower oil and a small amount of salmon oil (0.625%). Dr John state it is made without added wheat and without any form of chicken, which is the basis of the "hypoallergenic" name.

• Duck meal 14%, salmon meal 14%
• Made without added wheat and without any form of chicken
• Protein 24%, crude oils & fats 10.5%, crude fibre 2%, crude ash 7%
• Whole grain rice 20%, whole grain barley 18%
• Salmon oil included at 0.625%
• 2kg or 12.5kg sack

One thing worth knowing. Dr John's stated point of this recipe is what it leaves out — wheat and any form of chicken — rather than a specific medical claim, and a dog with a diagnosed allergy or intolerance is still a conversation for your vet rather than a decision to make from a bag's name alone.

Who it's for: owners of sporting or working dogs avoiding wheat and chicken specifically, wanting a duck and salmon recipe built around that exclusion.
