A dog working a full day in the field burns through calories a sofa-based feeding guide was never written for, which is the gap Chudleys Working Crunch is built to fill. It leads with poultry meal at a minimum 26%, backed by whole grain wheat, maize and oats, chicken fat and hydrolysed chicken, and folds in a joint-care line-up rarely seen outside a supplement tub: green lipped mussel, glucosamine, devil's claw root and seaweed.

Protein comes out at 24% and oil at 15% — noticeably higher than a standard maintenance kibble — with crude fibre at 3.25% and crude ash at 6.25%. The recipe also includes dandelion leaves, celery seed, burdock root, nettle leaves and blackcurrant among its herbal ingredients, alongside yeast as a source of mannan oligosaccharides.
