A dog working a full day in the field burns through calories a sofa-based feeding guide was never written for, which is the gap Chudleys Working Crunch is built to fill. It leads with poultry meal at a minimum 26%, backed by whole grain wheat, maize and oats, chicken fat and hydrolysed chicken, and folds in a joint-care line-up rarely seen outside a supplement tub: green lipped mussel, glucosamine, devil's claw root and seaweed.

Protein comes out at 24% and oil at 15% — noticeably higher than a standard maintenance kibble — with crude fibre at 3.25% and crude ash at 6.25%. The recipe also includes dandelion leaves, celery seed, burdock root, nettle leaves and blackcurrant among its herbal ingredients, alongside yeast as a source of mannan oligosaccharides. Chudleys' feeding guide runs from small dogs (5-10kg) at 105-180g a day up to very large dogs (45kg+) at 580g or more.

• Poultry meal min. 26%, plus whole grain wheat, maize and oats
• Protein 24%, oil 15%
• Crude fibre 3.25%, crude ash 6.25%
• Green lipped mussel, glucosamine and devil's claw root for joint support
• Feeding guide: 105-180g (small) up to 580g+ (very large), daily
• 14kg bag

On who this is not for. A 24% protein, 15% oil working recipe is calorie-dense by design, and that is the wrong direction for a dog with a lower daily workload — this is formulated for genuinely active or working dogs, not a companion breed that spends most of the day resting. Feeding it to an inactive dog risks weight gain that a standard maintenance food would not.

Who it's for: owners of working or sporting breeds with a real daily workload, particularly gundogs, who want the extra protein and oil alongside a joint-support blend rather than a standard maintenance kibble.
