A grain intolerance is often easier to pin down than a protein one, because there's usually a clearer starting point - a food change, a new treat, digestive upset that didn't settle until grain came out of the diet. Confirming it properly means removing grain deliberately, not guessing from a label.

This recipe replaces cereal grain with potato and buckwheat as the carbohydrate base, while keeping the same single-protein approach as Burns' other sensitive recipes: duck is the only animal protein in the bowl. It's a complete food for adult and senior dogs, rounded out with peas, duck fat and a small amount of seaweed.

• Complete grain-free food for adult and senior dogs
• Composition: Potato 48%, Buckwheat 27%, Dried Duck 19%, Duck Fat, Peas, Seaweed 0.5%, Minerals
• Protein 20%, Fat 8%, Fibre 2%, Ash 7%
• Calcium 1.2%, Phosphorus 0.85%, Sodium 0.18%
• Omega-6 2.21%, Omega-3 0.22%
• Sold in more than one bag size - check the size selected before ordering

A limitation worth naming. Burns don't publish which specific symptoms respond best to removing grain versus removing a protein, so if a vet hasn't already pointed at grain specifically, starting here rather than with the non-grain-free duck recipe is a guess rather than a targeted choice. Both recipes share the same single duck protein, so the grain is the only variable this bag changes.

Who it's for: adult and senior dogs with a specifically identified grain sensitivity, alongside the need for a single novel protein.
