A racing or coursing greyhound spends most of its day flat out asleep and only a few minutes a week actually working, which is a different feeding problem to a sheepdog that is on its feet from dawn — and it is why a maintenance-level formula can be exactly the right food for a dog that only exists in the "working" aisle on paper.

This is a complete dry dog food, meaning it is formulated to be the whole diet rather than a topper. The composition panel lists cereals, meat and animal derivatives, oils and fats, and minerals and vitamins, with EC-permitted antioxidants added, though none of those groups is broken down by percentage beyond the analysis figures below. It comes in a 15KG bag.

• Complete dry dog food, 15KG bag
• Crude protein 18.0%, crude oil 7.0%
• Crude fibre 3.1%, crude ash 7.5%
• Composition: cereals, meat and animal derivatives, oils and fats, minerals and vitamins
• Vitamin and mineral top-up includes vitamin A, D3 and E, copper sulphate and iron sulphate
• Feeding guide runs from 100–200g a day for a 4–10kg dog up to 500–800g for one over 32kg

On the name. This bag is sold under the plain name "Silver" and filed here as a Dry Dog Work/Sport food, but Bestpets' own product description calls it a greyhound maintenance diet — a detail that appears nowhere in the name or the category, only in their own text. If you came looking for a food built specifically for greyhounds, this is that food; if you came looking for a high-output formula for a dog that works all day, the 18% protein and 7% oil here sit towards the everyday end rather than a performance one.

Who it's for: owners feeding a greyhound on a rest day or maintenance basis, and owners of any breed who want a straightforward complete food rather than a performance-grade one — not dogs doing sustained heavy daily work.
