Older dogs eating less overall still need the same nutrients packed into a smaller amount, which is the usual reasoning behind a senior-specific recipe rather than just less of a standard one.

It's 85% chicken and salmon — 40% fresh chicken, 25% chicken broth and 20% fresh salmon — cooked with sweet potato, carrots, courgette, spinach, tomato, salmon and sunflower oil, green lipped mussel extract, seaweed, lucerne, parsley, celery, chicory root, nettle, turmeric, aniseed and green tea.

• 85% chicken and salmon (40% chicken, 25% broth, 20% salmon)
• Protein 9%, fat 6%, crude fibre 1.5%, crude ash 2.3%, moisture 78%
• Green lipped mussel extract included
• Grain-free recipe
• Feeding guide gives 1½ to 4+ pouches a day, by weight
• 300G pouch

A fair warning. Barking Heads don't publish a kcal figure for this recipe, so despite being marketed at senior dogs there's no calorie count here to compare it against an adult recipe if weight is also a concern for an older dog.

Who it's for: owners of senior dogs wanting a chicken-and-salmon recipe, fed as a sole diet or a topper using the weight-based guide.
