Two bowls, two hoppers, one plug: the point of a station like this is that food and water stop being two separate jobs done at two separate times. Fill both sides, set the panel, and the routine holds whether you are home for tea or still stuck on the ring road. For a single cat or a steady dog, that is most of the daily worry dealt with.

The two hoppers are kept apart and the bowls face away from each other, which matters more than it sounds. Kibble dust drifting into a water bowl is what turns it cloudy by day three, and a wet bowl sitting against a dry one is how food goes soft and stops being appetising. The digital panel on the front is where the dispensing is set, so nothing depends on a phone, an app or a working broadband connection while you are out.

• Separate hoppers for dry food and water in one unit
• Opposing bowls, so the two sides stay out of each other's way
• Digital control panel on the machine, with no app required
• Large capacity intended to cover several days at a time
• Suitable for cats and for dogs
• Supplied in a single specification, with no options to choose between

Two things worth knowing. This dispenses dry kibble only, and wet food will clog it. Whatever the reservoir holds, water still wants changing daily: a big tank slows the refill, it does not keep the water fresh.

Who it's for: Owners of one or two dry-fed pets who want feeding and watering covered by one appliance on the kitchen floor rather than two.
