Feeding a puppy well is less about picking the right food than about picking the right amount at each stage - too much too fast is as much a growth problem as too little, and the amount that's correct in week one is wrong within a fortnight.

Autarky's daily table for this recipe runs in roughly two-month steps from under a month old through to eight months, split across four expected adult sizes, so the grams change as your puppy does rather than staying fixed to one weight band. The named protein is poultry meal with a minimum chicken content of 34%, alongside maize, chicken fat and rice, plus a run of herbs and botanicals including milk thistle, yucca schidigera and rosemary.

• Poultry meal (minimum 34% chicken)
• Protein 28%, oil 16%, fibre 3%, ash 6.5%
• Omega 3 at 0.9%, omega 6 at 3.5%
• Feeding table in two-month steps from under 1 month to 8 months
• Described as naturally hypoallergenic
• 12kg bag

On the youngest feeding bracket. The table's first line is "under 1 month", which is younger than most puppies are eating solid food at all - they're usually still weaning. That line is more relevant to a breeder feeding a litter than to most people buying a single bag, so don't feel it has to apply to your puppy specifically.

Who it's for: owners who want a feeding table detailed enough to follow month by month through a puppy's first year, across small, medium, large and very large expected adult sizes, rather than one flat number for the whole growth period.
