Getting a harness over a puppy's head is a fight most owners lose at least once, and a step-in design sidesteps the whole problem by never asking the puppy to put its head through anything.
Ancol's Small Bite Teddy Harness is built for puppies and small dogs, with a step-in fitting so there's no over-the-head moment for a head-shy or nervous puppy. The body of the harness uses a comfort-fit shape with breathable mesh, and a reflective strip runs along it to add visibility on darker walks.
- Step-in fitting, no over-the-head moment
- Girth 35-42cm
- Breathable mesh construction
- Reflective strip for low-light visibility
- Designed for puppies and small dogs
On sizing. 35-42cm is a girth measurement rather than a breed size, so it's worth measuring around your puppy's ribcage rather than guessing from breed alone — a growing puppy can also move through this range faster than you'd expect.
Who it's for: owners of puppies or small dogs, especially head-shy ones or those still learning to accept a harness, who want a fitting that avoids the head at all.

Why we chose it
Step-in fittings genuinely make the first few weeks of harness training easier, which matters more with a nervous puppy than any amount of padding does. The reflective strip is also a sensible extra at no real cost, given how much winter walking happens in the dark either side of a working day.
