Choosing a colour

• Black — An H-harness takes the pull across the chest and behind the front legs instead of through the throat, which is the standard advice for lungers and flat-faced breeds. This one adjusts chest and girth independently, and getting both right stops it rotating sideways.
• Cool Grey — Most harnesses shout: lime, orange, a logo across the shoulder. Grey is the one for a dog who spends the evening under a pub table. It also disappears after dark, so add a reflective lead if you walk unlit roads.
• Dark Blue — Dark blue is the one to pick if you want the harness to disappear rather than announce itself, which suits a dog already wearing a bright collar. Same H build, off the throat, XS to Large, five-year guarantee.
• Green — Green is the one that disappears against grass and hedgerow, which is fine for a dog who never leaves your side and wrong for one who ranges. Pick it for looks, not for visibility. Same H build, five-year guarantee.
