Goodwood coffee wood chews
Goodwood makes dog chews from coffee wood — the wood left over once coffee plants have finished producing, repurposed as a hard, natural chew rather than sent to waste. It's a genuinely different material from the rawhide or rubber most chews are made from, and one that's naturally very hard.
You might also want to browse dog puzzle toys, tough toys for strong chewers and antler and root chews.
What we stock
We carry two versions: the Original, untreated coffee wood chew, and a Vanilla-infused version for dogs who respond better to a bit of added scent. Both come in extra small, small, medium and large sizes, so there's a size range across most dog builds rather than one fixed shape.
The wood itself is a by-product of coffee farming, which the brand markets as an additional source of revenue for the farmers involved rather than the wood going to waste. That's a genuine point of difference from a chew made purely from farmed rawhide or synthetic material.
Who it suits
Coffee wood is a hard, long-lasting chew, which suits a dedicated chewer who gets through softer chews quickly, more than a puppy or a dog with sensitive teeth. As with any hard chew, supervise the first few sessions and stop offering it if you notice any damage to your dog's teeth or gums.
Size it to your dog properly rather than assuming — a chew that's too small for a large, determined chewer is a choking risk, in the same way any hard chew that size would be, whatever it's made from.

Common questions
- Is coffee wood safe for dogs to chew?
- It's sold as a natural dog chew and many dogs get on well with it, but as with any hard chew, supervise your dog the first few times and stop if you notice cracked teeth, bleeding gums or your dog swallowing large splinters rather than gnawing normally.
- Does the Vanilla version contain anything artificial?
- It's a scent-infused version of the same coffee wood chew rather than a different base material. If you're unsure exactly what the infusion involves, check the product listing or contact us before buying for a dog with known sensitivities.
- What size chew should I buy?
- Match the size to your dog's build and how hard they chew — a large, determined chewer needs a larger size both for it to last and to avoid a choking risk, while a smaller or gentler chewer can manage a smaller size comfortably.
- Is this chew suitable for puppies?
- Coffee wood is a genuinely hard chew, so it suits an adult dog with a settled adult bite better than a teething puppy, whose gums and developing teeth are more sensitive. If in doubt for a young dog, a softer puppy-specific chew is the safer starting point.
- How long does a coffee wood chew last?
- It varies enormously by dog — a determined chewer will get through any chew faster than a dog who nibbles occasionally, but coffee wood's density generally means it lasts noticeably longer than a soft rawhide chew of a similar size. Replace it once it's worn down to a size that's no longer safe to hold.
- Do you stock other flavours besides Vanilla and Original?
- Those are the two we currently carry from the Goodwood range. If a specific flavour or size isn't showing as available, that reflects current stock rather than the range being discontinued, so it's worth checking back.
