Eukanuba puppy food

Eukanuba's puppy range is split mainly by breed size rather than being a single formula, because a large-breed puppy's growth rate and joint development need managing differently to a small or medium breed's. We stock a selection from across that range rather than every recipe Eukanuba makes.

What we stock, and what the size split changes

Our range includes Eukanuba Puppy Small & Medium Breed Lamb, Eukanuba Puppy Breed Chicken, Eukanuba Puppy Turkey & Carrots and a grain-free fish recipe under the Puppy Breed line. The small and medium breed formula is built around a faster growth curve and smaller kibble size than the large-breed lines, which are formulated with calcium and calorie levels judged to slow bone growth to a safer rate for a joint structure that will end up carrying much more weight as an adult.

Getting the size band right matters more with a large-breed puppy than a small one, because overfeeding calories or calcium during rapid growth is a recognised contributor to developmental joint problems in giant and large breeds. If you are not sure which band your puppy falls into, check the breed's typical adult weight rather than how big they look right now.

Who it suits

This is a mainstream, widely available puppy range rather than a specialist or prescription one, and it suits owners who want a size-appropriate complete food without needing to research individual nutrient targets themselves — Eukanuba has already built that into the size split. It is not the range to reach for if your puppy has a diagnosed condition needing a specific therapeutic diet; that is a conversation for your vet.

As with any puppy food, whether a particular recipe suits your dog comes down to their size, breed and any known sensitivities rather than the brand name on the bag, and any change of food is worth introducing gradually alongside whatever they are already eating.

Common questions

Is Eukanuba a good puppy food?
It is a well-established, mainstream complete puppy food with a size-specific range, which is a genuinely useful feature for large-breed puppies in particular. Whether it suits your puppy comes down to their size and any sensitivities rather than the brand alone.
Do I need the large-breed version for my puppy?
Use the large-breed formula if your puppy's adult breed weight is expected to be high, since it is built to manage growth rate and calcium levels for bigger joints. For a small or medium breed, the standard small and medium breed recipe is the better fit.
Does Eukanuba make a grain-free puppy food?
Yes, our range includes a grain-free fish recipe under the Puppy Breed line alongside the standard chicken, lamb and turkey options. Check the individual pack for the exact ingredients list before switching.
How do I switch my puppy onto a new Eukanuba recipe?
Introduce it gradually over several days, mixing increasing amounts in with their current food rather than swapping overnight, and watch their stools and appetite as you go. If the change does not settle, speak to your vet rather than persisting with it.
