Forthglade puppy food
Forthglade's puppy range sits alongside their wider natural, additive-free food line, formulated specifically for growing puppies rather than adapted from an adult recipe. Forthglade Complete Puppy Chicken with Liver Grain Free is the puppy-specific recipe in the range we stock, built around a single named protein with added liver.
What the puppy range is built for
Forthglade's puppy recipe follows the same natural, minimal-ingredient approach the brand is known for across its adult range, but with the higher protein and calorie content growing puppies need. Chicken with liver, grain free, is the specific puppy recipe currently in our range, giving a single named protein source that is easy to introduce.
It is a wet food, sold in trays and pouches rather than a dry kibble, which some puppies find easier to eat during teething or when transitioning off milk. It works well fed on its own as a complete meal or mixed with a dry puppy kibble for variety.
Who it suits
This recipe suits a puppy owner who wants a natural, additive-free wet food with a straightforward ingredients list, or a puppy that has shown sensitivity to more heavily processed foods. It is a complete food, so it can be fed as the whole meal rather than only as a topper.
As with any new food, introduce it gradually alongside whatever your puppy is already eating over several days, watching how they get on, rather than switching in one go.
Because Forthglade recipes are naturally sourced with a short ingredients list, it is also a reasonable starting point if you are trying to identify a sensitivity, since there is less in the tray to rule in or out compared with a more heavily processed food.

Common questions
- Is Forthglade puppy food a complete diet?
- Yes, Forthglade Complete Puppy Chicken with Liver Grain Free is labelled as a complete food, meaning it is formulated to meet a puppy's nutritional needs on its own without needing to be combined with anything else.
- When should I switch my puppy from puppy food to adult food?
- Most puppies can move to an adult recipe from around twelve months old, though larger breeds sometimes continue growing longer and may benefit from staying on puppy food a little later. A vet can advise based on your puppy's individual growth.
- Can I mix Forthglade wet puppy food with dry kibble?
- Yes, many owners mix a wet puppy food like this with a dry puppy kibble for variety and texture, as long as the combined portion matches your puppy's daily calorie needs rather than simply adding the two feeding guides together.
