Lamb tends to divide a household faster than chicken does — dogs that love it usually love it a lot — which makes a dedicated lamb option worth having in a senior range rather than folding it into a mixed recipe.

It's built around lamb (60%), with butternut squash (6%), carrots (4%) and peas (4%), plus chicory root extract, salmon oil, linseed oil, dried seaweed, a herb blend of parsley, rosemary, nettle and camomile, and added glucosamine (100mg/kg) and chondroitin (100mg/kg).

• Lamb 60%
• Butternut squash 6%, carrots 4%, peas 4%
• Glucosamine 100mg/kg, chondroitin 100mg/kg
• Protein 8.5%, fat 6.5%, crude fibre 0.5%, crude ash 4%, omega-3 0.25%, moisture 78%
• Grain-free, complete food, formulated for senior dogs
• 395G tray

A word on portion. As with the rest of this range, Forthglade's feeding table runs by dog weight rather than a flat scoop — check it directly rather than assuming a senior dog needs the same amount an adult recipe would suggest.

Who it's for: owners of senior dogs on a single-protein lamb diet, wanting the added glucosamine and chondroitin alongside it.
