Buying guide
The best setup is the one your cat can reach, use comfortably and accept consistently.
A wipe-clean mat can help catch scatter around the entrance. Check that replacement filters and liners are made for your tray model before ordering.
Cats Protection notes that some cats find plastic liners off-putting, so watch your cat’s response rather than assuming a liner will suit.
Strong fragrances can discourage some cats. Use cat-safe cleaning products, keep the tray accessible and remove waste regularly instead of relying on fragrance to mask it.
Not necessarily. A liner can make changes easier for the owner, but some cats dislike the feel or movement under their paws. The tray should still be cleaned regularly whether or not a liner is used.
A litter mat sits outside the tray entrance to catch some of the granules carried out on paws or scattered during digging. Choose a size and surface that is easy to empty and wipe clean.
