These boots are sized by paw WIDTH — the widest part of the paw. Measure the width first; any weights are only a rough guide.

How to measure

Stand your dog on paper so the paw spreads to its natural width.
Mark the widest points and measure straight across, in cm.
Measure a front paw (usually a touch bigger than the back). If between sizes, size up.

Full description

Half the trouble with winter walks happens after the walk. The towelling at the door, the muddy prints down the hall, the paws that need checking for grit and road salt. Rubber boots move that problem outside, keeping the mud on the outside of the boot instead of packed between the toes, and these are moulded as small dinosaur feet, which takes some of the seriousness out of the idea.

The rubber is soft rather than rigid, so the boot flexes as the paw spreads on landing instead of forcing the toes into one fixed shape, and the sole is textured for grip on the surfaces that actually catch dogs out: wet pavement, tiled shop floors, slick grass on a slope. An adjustable strap at the top closes above the dewclaw, which is what stops a boot working loose and getting left behind in a hedge.
