Carrying your own bags and keys on a walk is fine right up until you are also holding a lead, a full poo bag and a phone. A harness with a zipped pocket on the back moves the small items onto the dog, and for an energetic one, having a small job to do on a walk takes rather more out of them than the distance covered on its own does.

The vest itself is padded mesh, which spreads pressure across the chest and shoulders instead of concentrating it on a narrow strap or, worse, the throat, and mesh keeps air moving so it does not turn into a hot layer under a thick coat in summer. On fitting and loading. Measure the chest girth immediately behind the front legs, because that measurement rather than your dog's weight decides the size, and we will match it if you send it over. Keep the pockets to light items such as bags, keys and treats; this is a vest with pockets rather than a load-carrying pack, and a weighted pack has no business on a growing dog.
