Use this carefully
A head halter needs introducing over several days with food, because most dogs hate one that is simply strapped on. Never jerk the lead while it is attached to the nose, and never use it with an extending lead or a long line, as a dog hitting the end at speed can wrench their neck. Many dogs also paw at the noseband at first. If yours never settles, a front-clip harness is the kinder alternative.
Why we chose it
A head halter steers from the nose, which gives a small person real control over a big dog. It also needs proper introduction - a dog who has one strapped on cold will spend the walk pawing at it. Reflective nose strap, six sizes.

Size guide & how to measure
Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.
How to measure
- Stand your pet up squarely.
- Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
- If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.
| Size | Typical chest / girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 28–40 cm | Toy breeds, kittens, very small dogs |
| S | 38–53 cm | Small dogs (e.g. Dachshund, Yorkie) |
| M | 50–68 cm | Medium dogs (e.g. Cocker Spaniel, Beagle) |
| L | 65–85 cm | Large dogs (e.g. Labrador, Boxer) |
| XL | 82–105 cm | Giant breeds (e.g. German Shepherd, Rottweiler) |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.

Full description
A dog that pulls has usually learned that pulling works, and no piece of equipment unlearns that. What a head halter does is change the mechanics while you do the training: because the lead connects at the nose, a dog that pushes ahead finds their head turning gently back towards you rather than making progress. It gives a small handler physical control of a strong dog, which is often what makes calm training possible at all.
A soft lining sits where the noseband crosses the bridge, which is the area that rubs on an unlined halter, and a reflective strip along the nose helps on dark afternoons. An adjustable fit and a safety buckle keep the halter in position, which matters because a loose halter slips forward and a tight one is uncomfortable. It comes in three colours and two sizes, S and M.
- Nose-led steering that redirects a pulling dog - Soft inner lining on the noseband - Reflective nose strip for dark walks - Adjustable fit with a safety buckle - Two sizes, S and M, in black, dark brown or dark khaki

Who it's for: Handlers of strong or excitable dogs who want control on the lead while they do the training properly.
