A high-output dog food should make its energy case in the analytical panel, where protein, fat and calories can be compared directly.

Skinner’s Field & Trial Working 30 is complete dry food for adult dogs in a 15KG bag. Poultry meat meal leads the recipe, followed by maize, poultry fat, naked oats, beet pulp and dried egg. The composition also lists brewer’s yeast, herbs, MOS, FOS, glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, seaweed and yucca. Analysis is 30% protein, 20% fat, 7.8% crude ash and 3% crude fibre, with 393 kcal/100g.

• Complete dry food for adult dogs
• 15KG bag
• 30% protein and 20% fat
• 7.8% crude ash and 3% crude fibre
• Poultry meat meal is first in the composition

This is the richest numbered option here: the 20% fat and 393 kcal/100g figures need to suit the individual dog’s workload. Under 10kg: up to 150g daily; 10–20kg: 150–260g; 20–32kg: 260–400g; 32–45kg: 400–500g; 45kg and over: 450g or more. Feed dry or add a little water, keep fresh water available, and account for breed, size and activity level. Maize and naked oats are listed, so the recipe should not be described as grain free even though the supplied description calls it wheat free.

Who it's for: handlers feeding an adult dog with high energy demands who specifically want the 30% protein, 20% fat formula and can use a 15KG bag.
