Large and small puppies do not stay in one feeding bracket for long, which makes the age columns on a puppy-food table as important as the recipe.

Skinner’s Field & Trial Puppy & Junior Lamb and Rice is complete dry food for puppies and junior dogs, with a smaller bag and a 15KG bag on this page. Brown rice is 39.3% and lamb meat meal is 15.5%; the recipe also lists pea protein, naked oats, whole linseed, brewer’s yeast, poultry fat, peas, sunflower meal and dried egg. Analysis is 24% protein, 12% fat, 7.7% crude ash and 4% crude fibre, with omega-3 at 1.15% and 348 kcal/100g.

Choosing an amount: The manufacturer’s table varies the daily amount by both puppy weight and age, from weaning–12 weeks through 3–6, 6–9 and 9–12 months. Use the matching row and age column rather than one fixed puppy portion. A 15kg puppy, for instance, moves from 590g at weaning–12 weeks to 420g, 350g and 280g across the later three age bands. Check both axes each time rather than following the bag size.

Who it's for: puppy and junior-dog owners looking for a complete lamb and rice recipe, with a smaller bag for initial use and a 15KG option for homes that need more.
