Full description

Rest days do not remove a working dog’s need for a complete meal, but they can change which energy level makes sense.

Skinner’s Field & Trial Maintenance is complete dry food for adult dogs in a 2.5KG bag. Maize and wheat are the first two ingredients, followed by poultry meat meal, barley, poultry fat, beet pulp, vitamins and minerals. The analytical panel declares 18% protein, 11% oils and fats, 5.6% crude ash and 2.6% crude fibre, with energy at 358 kcal/100g. Additives include vitamins A, D3 and E, trace elements, antioxidants and preservatives.

5.6% crude ash and 2.6% crude fibre
Maize and wheat lead the composition

Maintenance still needs matching to the dog: the name does not set the portion or prove it suits every quieter period. Under 10kg: up to 150g daily; 10–20kg: 150–260g; 20–32kg: 260–400g; 32–45kg: 400–500g; 45kg and over: 450g or more. Feed dry or add a little water, keep fresh water available, and account for breed, size and activity level. This recipe contains maize, wheat and barley, so it is not suitable for someone deliberately avoiding those cereals.

Who it's for: owners of adult working dogs looking for the 18% protein Maintenance formula in a smaller bag, with no need to avoid the cereals listed on the label.

The 18% protein figure gives Maintenance a distinct job in a range built around different activity levels. The 2.5KG bag is also a practical size when an owner is comparing it with a dog’s usual working-season food.
