Choosing a design

• Bumblebee Black — Leads almost never wear out in the middle. What goes is the clip: the spring stiffens over a winter of grit and rain and one cold morning it lets go. Red Dingo build round solid hardware and guarantee it five years. Ask me for figures.
• Daisy Chain Purple — The daisy chain print is the point here, but the guarantee is why I'd rather sell this than a supermarket lead: five years on the stitching and the clip, which are the two parts that always fail first.
• Rainbow Red — A lead has to survive the worst two seconds of the walk, not the pleasant fifty minutes around them. Choose the size by how hard your dog pulls, not by how it looks. Still worth checking the stitching at the clip occasionally.
• Squiggles Black — A lead gets used twice a day for a decade, and the clip end is where the cheap ones fail. Five years of guarantee is Red Dingo's own estimate of service life.
• Stars White on Turquoise — Being clear before you buy on colour: white stars on turquoise are easy to pick out across a field on a Sunday afternoon, and on a wet November morning a light colour is still just a light colour. Add a lit collar.
• Union Jack — The flag is why people pick it off the rack; the reason it is worth the money is duller. Solid hardware and five years of cover on a thing that takes two walks a day. Rinse it after salt water and dry it properly.
