Choosing a colour

• Black — Red Dingo put a five-year guarantee behind their hardware, which almost nobody does on an everyday lead. That's the reason it's on the shelf rather than a cheaper one whose clip gives out by spring.
• Hot Pink — The Superlead is the heavier-duty one in the range, which is what you want behind a dog who lunges. Hot pink is the colour you can pick out of a hedge if you ever put it down. Medium only at the moment.
• Red — Plain colours are the ones that actually get used, because the lead you reach for twice a day is the one that has stopped being a decision. Built to the same standard as the patterned ones. Pulling is a training job, not a lead job.
• Turquoise — A plain lead in a colour you can actually spot on a muddy field. It's the same Red Dingo build as the black — solid hardware, five-year guarantee — and only the medium size is stocked.
