Full description
A dog that has never worn a lead in the garden will test the very edge of whatever it is tied to, which is exactly the job a length of coated cable rather than rope is built for.
It's a 4.7m steel cable wrapped in a durable, waterproof plastic coating, with a clip at each end — one for a tie-out stake, the other for the dog's own lead. The steel core gives it strength a rope tie-out does not have, while the plastic coating protects against the weather.
- 4.7m length
- Steel cable core, waterproof plastic coating
- Clip at each end
- One end for a tie-out stake, the other for the dog's lead
- Built to withstand outdoor use
What the maker hasn't told us. No maximum weight or breaking strain is given for this cable, so we can't say what size of dog it's rated for — a determined puller on a cable this length can build up real force by the time it hits full stretch. The tie-out stake itself is not included.
Who it's for: owners giving a dog supervised range in a garden or on a campsite, who already have or are buying a stake to anchor the other end.

Why we chose it
A steel core rather than a plain rope cable is the difference between a tie-out a determined dog can chew through and one it cannot. 4.7m is also a genuinely useful length rather than the short, coffee-table-sized runs some tie-outs are sold at.
