Boots and paw protectors are sized by paw WIDTH — the widest part of the paw when your dog is standing and the paw is spread. Measure width first; any weights are only a rough guide.
How to measure
- Stand your dog on a piece of paper so the paw spreads to its natural width.
- Mark the widest points on each side and measure straight across, in cm.
- Measure a front paw (usually a touch bigger than the back). If between sizes, size up.

Full description
Pavements do more damage to paws than most owners realise. Tarmac in July holds heat long after the air has cooled, grit and road salt in winter burn the skin between the pads, and a polished hall floor is where an older dog loses its footing. A set of four shoes covers all of it, and the rubber soles also give real grip indoors for a dog whose back legs slide out from under it.
The soles are non-slip rubber, flexible enough for a paw to spread naturally rather than plodding along on a rigid block, and the uppers are breathable so feet do not cook inside them on a long walk. A twist-lock fastening tightens the ankle and holds, which is where cheaper boots fail, because a shoe that spins loose is a shoe you find in a hedge. They come as a set of four, weigh 170 g to 250 g per set, and are listed in blue, red, green, orange and camouflage.

The size labels are a poor translation. Sizes appear as One Yard through Five Yards, which are simply sizes one to five, and nothing to do with yards. Expect several short indoor sessions before your dog walks normally in them; almost every dog goose-steps at first.
