There is a category of dog who shivers on the doorstep in November and simply refuses to go any further, and no amount of encouragement fixes it. Warmth does. This fleece jumpsuit covers all four legs and adds a hood, and the monster spots and soft spikes down the back mean the dog who needed the practical solution ends up being the best-looking thing on the green.

Fleece is the sensible fabric for this job. It is light, it dries quickly if it gets damp, and it holds warmth without the weight of a padded coat, which matters on a small dog carrying an entire garment around on their own frame. Ribbed cuffs at the leg ends grip rather than ride up, so the sleeves stay where you put them instead of concertinaing at the shoulder after ten minutes of trotting.

• Full-body fleece with all four legs covered
• Hood for head and ear coverage
• Ribbed cuffs at each leg
• Monster spots and spikes along the back
• Blue, in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL

On the hood. Most dogs tolerate a hood on a walk and very few enjoy one indoors, so expect to push it back more often than you use it, and check your dog is comfortable in one before relying on it for warmth. We also have no measurement chart for these sizes and would rather confirm a fit with you than print figures we cannot verify.

Who it's for: Small, short-coated dogs who need real coverage through winter, owned by people who do not mind making a bit of a spectacle.
