A high divan is roughly the height of a small dog's entire body, and a pet who jumps it twice a night for years is loading the same two joints over and over again. On the weight limit. PawHut rate these for pets under 4.5kg, which means a cat or a toy breed, and not a spaniel, a French bulldog or a beagle. If your dog weighs more than that, these are the wrong steps and they will not survive the year. The treads are also only 15cm deep, a short stride, so a long-bodied pet will place two feet on each one. And particle board dislikes damp, so keep them out of conservatories and away from anything that leaks.

Who it's for: cats getting on in years, chihuahuas, yorkies and other small breeds with a high bed to reach, and anyone whose vet has told them to stop the jumping.
