A working dog burns through a maintenance diet faster than a dog that spends its day on the sofa, which is why feeds aimed at greyhounds and sheepdogs tend to run higher in protein than an everyday supermarket bag.

Masters Choice Working Dog Complete is built from cereals, meat and animal derivatives, vegetable-origin ingredients, oils and fats and minerals, with added copper sulphate and vitamins A, D3 and E. Typical analysis gives 25% crude protein, 14% fat, 3% crude fibre and 6.5% inorganic matter (ash), and it is sold here as a complete food.

On what's not named. "Meat and animal derivatives" is a category, not a named ingredient — Masters don't tell us which meats make up that 25% protein, so if your dog needs to avoid a specific meat, this bag can't confirm or rule it out.

Who it's for: owners of greyhounds, sheepdogs, hunting dogs and other working breeds who want a straightforward maintenance food at a working-dog protein level, in a bag size that suits feeding more than one dog.
