Full description
A dog that plays fetch after dark is a dog you can't actually see once the ball leaves your hand, which is the entire reason to put a light inside the toy rather than just clip one to the collar.
This is a silicone bone-shaped toy with a motion-activated LED light that turns on when it bounces or is shaken, and switches off automatically after 40 seconds of inactivity. It's USB rechargeable, with a cable included.
- Motion-activated LED light, triggered by bouncing or shaking
- Auto-off after 40 seconds of inactivity
- USB rechargeable, cable included
- Approximate battery life of 3 hours per charge
- Soft silicone construction
- Available in green or yellow
On the battery life: 3 hours per charge is the manufacturer's own approximate figure, which for a toy used in short bursts around dusk should cover plenty of sessions - but it isn't a figure we've been able to independently confirm.
Who it's for: owners who walk or play fetch with their dog in low light or after dark and want the toy itself to stay visible rather than relying on a separate collar light.

Why we chose it
A light-up toy solves the actual problem of losing sight of a ball at dusk, rather than just being a novelty feature, and USB rechargeable means it isn't burning through disposable batteries. Silicone is also a sensible material for something that's going to be bounced and mouthed repeatedly.
