Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.

How to measure

Stand your pet up squarely.
Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.

Full description

A collar puts a dog's whole pulling weight through its neck, right across the trachea, which is really the entire argument for a harness that moves the load somewhere else instead.

The Anatomy Harness spreads that load across neoprene padding on the chest and back, with a neoprene flex triangle at the base of the back pad, built onto a webbing frame with scalloped pads for even pressure. Three lead attachments sit on it: a front ring for control, and two on the back for ordinary walking, running or hiking, and Halti's design is meant to leave the dog's shoulders free to move rather than restricted across the front.
