Full description
A retractable lead only earns its keep if the brake is easy to find under pressure, because the moment you actually need it is the moment a dog has already committed to running.
This is Flexi's New Comfort S, a 5m tape lead rated for dogs up to 15kg, with a soft grip handle and a chromed snap hook. Flexi quote the lead itself at around 220g, and it's built to accept their optional LED lighting system or Multi Box accessory if you want to add either later.
- 5m tape lead
- For dogs up to 15kg
- Soft grip handle
- Chromed snap hook
- Approx. 220g lead weight
- Compatible with Flexi's LED lighting system and Multi Box accessories
On sizing. 15kg is Flexi's stated ceiling for this lead — go over it regularly with a lead like this and you're relying on a mechanism built for a lighter dog, so a strong puller near that weight is better served by one of Flexi's larger models.
Who it's for: owners of smaller or lighter dogs who want the extend-and-lock convenience of a tape lead over a fixed-length one, and who might want to add lighting or storage later without buying a new lead.

Why we chose it
The 15kg weight limit is the number that actually matters when choosing a retractable lead, and it's clearly stated rather than buried — nobody wants to find out their dog's too heavy for the mechanism halfway through a walk. Being able to add the LED or Multi Box later is a genuine extra rather than a gimmick, since it means you're not committing to a fully accessorised lead upfront.
