Full description
Small dogs have narrow windpipes, and a collar puts every ounce of pulling straight onto them. That is why vets keep steering owners of toy and small breeds towards a vest rather than a collar for walking: the load spreads across the chest and shoulders, where the dog is built to take it, instead of concentrating on the throat. This one does that job in soft corduroy, with a bow at the chest for owners who would like the sensible option to also look like something.
Corduroy is an unusual choice for a harness and it earns its place in winter more than in summer. The ribbed cotton has some weight to it, the panels are padded so the edges do not press into a fine-coated dog, and the whole thing steps on over the front legs and closes with a side-release buckle rather than needing to be pulled over a nervous dog's head. Depending on size it weighs between 200 and 220 grams, and the lead ring sits on the back.
