A dog on a long summer walk drinks far more than most owners carry for them, and cupped hands from a stream is neither reliable nor especially clean. A bottle that lives clipped to your bag solves it without much thought. This one is built from 304 stainless steel, the same grade used for kitchen flasks, so it does not take on flavours or hold onto smells the way a plastic bottle does after a few months in a rucksack.

Steel matters for more than durability. Plastic sports bottles scratch on the inside, and those scratches hold bacteria that no amount of rinsing shifts. A steel interior stays smooth and cleans properly. The cap is leak-resistant, so the bottle can go in a bag alongside your phone without it being a gamble, and a wrist strap means you can carry it loosely, clip it to a harness or loop it over a hand. There is a choice of printed or plain finishes in pink or blue, plus multi-item sets.

• 304 stainless steel construction
• Leak-resistant cap
• Wrist strap for carrying or clipping on
• Printed and unprinted finishes
• Pink and blue options, plus three set combinations
• Compact enough for a coat pocket or bag

One thing worth knowing. On a hot day, plan to refill along the way rather than assume one fill covers a long walk.

Who it's for: Dogs who come along on long walks, runs and full days out, and owners tired of carrying a plastic bottle.
