How to measure
- Width: lighter, narrower webbing for small dogs; wider, thicker webbing for strong pullers and larger dogs.
- Standard lead (1.2–1.5 m): everyday pavement walks and training.
- Long line (3–10 m): recall practice and open spaces.
- Short / traffic lead (under 1 m): close control in busy areas.

A puppy tests boundaries indoors long before a lead ever goes near a front door - jumping at a visitor, stealing a sock, climbing onto the sofa the moment your back is turned. Grabbing a collar every time teaches something, but not always the lesson you meant.
