Cutting a dog's portion down when a vet flags its weight usually just means less of the same food, which leaves it hungry rather than genuinely on a lighter diet — a food that's actually lower in fat is a different approach.

Butcher's describe this range as 20% less fat than their regular recipes, and the analysis backs that up at 2.5% fat. The base is 70% chicken and beef (chicken and broth 45%, beef 25% in the With Chicken recipe), with a Lean & Tasty Fibre Blend at 8.2% — wholegrain rice (4%), carrots (2%), peas (2%) and plant fibres (0.2%). Unlike some of Butcher's other ranges, this one is wholegrain rather than grain-free.

• 20% less fat than Butcher's regular recipes, per their own claim
• Fat 2.5%, protein 8.5%, ash 2.5%, moisture 82%
• 70% chicken and beef base
• Lean & Tasty Fibre Blend 8.2% (wholegrain rice, carrots, peas, plant fibres)
• 72kcal/100g
• Wholegrain, not grain-free — worth noting if that matters to you

What "20% less fat" is measured against. That figure is Butcher's own comparison to their regular recipes, not an independent measurement we've made, and the card doesn't say which specific recipe it's being compared to. It's also worth flagging that this range uses wholegrain rice rather than being grain-free, the opposite spec to some of Butcher's other ranges on this shelf.

Who it's for: owners managing a dog's weight who want a genuinely lower-fat wet food rather than just a smaller portion of a richer one.
