Size guide & how to measure

Boots and paw protectors are sized by paw WIDTH — the widest part of the paw when your dog is standing and the paw is spread. Measure width first; any weights are only a rough guide.

How to measure

Stand your dog on a piece of paper so the paw spreads to its natural width.
Mark the widest points on each side and measure straight across, in cm.
Measure a front paw (usually a touch bigger than the back). If between sizes, size up.

Full description

Summer pavement is the case people underestimate. Tarmac that feels merely warm underfoot in shoes can be hot enough to blister a pad within a minute of standing on it. These are moulded in one piece from flexible EVA, the same light springy material used for clog-style sandals, so there is a solid layer under the paw without the weight or bulk of a proper walking boot.

Ventilation holes through the upper let heat escape, which is what makes them wearable in warm weather when a sealed boot would leave the paw sweating inside. A strap across the top adjusts to hold each boot on, and the sole is textured for grip on smooth ground. Because the body is moulded rather than stitched there are no seams to split or fill with grit, and they rinse clean under a tap.

These are not waterproof. They are sometimes sold as though they are, and the ventilation holes make that impossible, since water goes in through the same openings that let heat out. Buy them for hot ground, gravel and general paw protection in dry conditions, and choose a sealed boot instead if the problem you are actually solving is rain and mud.
