Product description

A complete dry food built around chicken at 50% of the recipe, in a kibble sized for small breeds — the dogs most likely to leave a standard kibble in the bowl because it is simply too big to be worth the effort.

The chicken is broken down on the label rather than lumped together: 31% freshly prepared free-run chicken, 14% dried chicken, 2.5% chicken gravy and 2.5% chicken fat. Rice sits at 26%, with oats, peas at 10%, lucerne and salmon oil at 1%, plus chicory root extract, seaweed, dried carrot and a mix of peppermint, rosemary, oregano and thyme.

Chicken 50%, itemised across fresh, dried, gravy and fat
Rice 26%, oats, peas 10%, lucerne, salmon oil 1%
Analysis: protein 25%, fat 15%, fibre 3.5%, ash 7.5%
A complete food, so it needs nothing added to it
1.5kg and 6kg bags

On the fat content. At 15%, this is higher in fat than a lot of everyday adult dry foods, which suits an active small dog and is worth knowing if yours is already carrying weight. Portion to the dog in front of you rather than to the bag, and weigh it rather than scooping.

Who it's for: owners of small breeds who want a named-meat-led complete dry food and a kibble their dog can actually pick up.

Why we chose it

Small-breed dry foods often shrink the kibble and little else. This one itemises where the chicken actually comes from rather than giving a single percentage, which makes it possible to see what you are buying, and the 1.5kg bag is a realistic size for a small dog rather than a sack that goes stale before it is finished.
