Lamb has a reputation as the gentler protein for a dog with a sensitive stomach, though the reputation rests less on the meat itself than on how it's usually sourced and what else is left out of the bag around it.

This recipe puts lamb at 50% of the total - 34% freshly prepared grass-fed lamb, 14% dried, plus a little lamb gravy - alongside rice, oats and peas for the carbohydrate. Salmon oil is included at 2%, and the standard All Hounder joint-support additions, glucosamine, chondroitin and beta glucans among the seaweed and chicory root, are built into the everyday recipe. It's a complete food for adult dogs.

• Lamb 50% (34% freshly prepared grass-fed, 14% dried, plus gravy)
• Protein 24%, fat 12%, fibre 3.5%, ash 8.5%, 356 kcal/100g
• Salmon oil at 2%
• Rice, oats and peas - not a grain-free recipe
• Complete food for adult dogs
• Also available in a larger bag for bigger households

One thing worth knowing. This recipe is not grain-free, despite rice and oats both appearing well down the ingredient list rather than up front with the lamb. If you're choosing a lamb recipe specifically to also avoid grain, check the composition before buying rather than assuming the two go together.

Who it's for: owners of adult dogs who want a lamb-based recipe with the standard glucosamine and chondroitin joint-support additions, and who don't need the food to be grain-free as well.
