Owners tend to underestimate how much force it takes to actually get through a nylon chew, right up until they watch a determined dog manage it in an afternoon. A dumbbell shape gives more edges and ends to work at than a plain bone does, which is most of the appeal from the dog's side.

This is a dumbbell-shaped chew from Bamboodles' tough nylon range, in a medium size, with a peanut butter element to the design. It is aimed at dogs and sits in the tough-nylon category rather than the soft-toy one, so it is built to be chewed on rather than carried or cuddled.

• Dumbbell shape
• Peanut butter design
• Tough nylon range
• Medium size

On what's missing. There's no published weight, dimension or hardness rating for this chew beyond "medium" and "tough nylon range" — useful context if you're weighing it up against a dog with strong jaws, since nylon chews vary a lot in how long they last from one dog to the next.

Who it's for: owners of a medium-sized dog after a nylon chew with some flavour interest built in, rather than a plain bone shape.
