A weight-control food only works if it is genuinely lower in energy, not just labelled that way, and the fat figure is the number that actually tells you which is true.

Arden Grange Light lists rice (31%) and maize (27%) ahead of chicken meat meal (14%) and fresh chicken (5%), and it carries a Metabolisable Energy of 339kcal per 100g. Fat content is 7.5%, notably below Arden Grange's standard adult recipes, which is the mechanism behind the "Light" name rather than a marketing label alone.

• 2kg bag
• Rice (31%) and maize (27%) lead the ingredient list, ahead of chicken
• Metabolisable energy: 339kcal/100g
• Protein 18%, fat content 7.5%, crude ash 7%, crude fibre 3.5%
• Contains no added wheat, gluten, soya or dairy

On the naming. Rice and maize come before chicken on the ingredient panel here — reasonable for a lower-fat weight-control food, but worth knowing if you were expecting a meat-led recipe from the Arden Grange name alone. The 7.5% fat figure is the number on this card that actually earns the "Light" name, rather than the front of the bag alone.

Who it's for: an adult dog that needs to lose weight or maintain a reduced-activity level, under a vet or your own judgement of their body condition — not a young, active dog with normal energy needs.
