Most grain-free foods stop at swapping the carbohydrate source; this one also adds a list of named plant extracts at stated, if small, percentages — which at least means you can see exactly what "superfoods" refers to rather than taking the word for it.

Arden Grange's Grain Free Chicken & Superfoods leads with chicken (43% combined, from chicken meat meal and fresh chicken), using sweet potato and tapioca rather than grain. It adds coconut oil (1%), spirulina and chia seeds (0.1% each), and cranberry, pomegranate, blueberry, mulberry, lingonberry and rosehip extracts at 500mg/kg apiece. Protein sits at 28%.

• Available in two bag sizes
• Chicken (43% combined): chicken meat meal and fresh chicken
• Grain free, using sweet potato and tapioca
• Protein 28%, crude fat 16%, crude ash 8%, crude fibre 3%
• Six named berry and seed extracts, each at 500mg/kg

On the superfood claim. Each of the six named extracts sits at 500mg/kg — a small, consistent addition rather than a concentrated dose of any one. Arden Grange do not publish independent evidence on this card for what that specific level of any single extract does; treat it as a minor addition rather than the main reason to choose this food.

Who it's for: a dog on a grain-free diet built around chicken, particularly one that also needs to avoid white potato and rice rather than grain alone.
