Full description
The moment a slip lead earns its keep is rarely a planned one — a dog that has backed out of its collar in a car park, or one handed to you at a rescue with nothing else attached. What matters then is that it goes on in one motion, with no clip to fumble.
This lead is built from Ancol's durable poly-weave webbing, 120cm long and 12mm wide, with a leather adjuster for fit and leather finishings. Reflective weave runs the length of it, and Ancol give a maximum recommended weight of 50kg.
- 120cm long, 12mm wide poly-weave webbing
- Leather adjuster for fit
- Leather finishings
- Reflective weave along the length
- Maximum recommended weight 50kg
- Lightweight and weatherproof, part of the Viva range
On the weight limit. 50kg is Ancol's ceiling for this lead, not a target to work towards — a heavy dog pulling hard near that limit puts more strain through a slip lead than the same dog would through a collar and separate clip lead, because of how the force runs around the neck rather than a fixed point.
Who it's for: owners who want a quick-fit spare for the car, a vet visit or a rescue handover, built to daily-walk and swimming standard rather than as an occasional-use item.

Why we chose it
Every dog owner ends up needing a slip lead eventually, usually at short notice, and this one is built to the same 50kg rating and reflective spec as our clip leads rather than being a stripped-down afterthought. It is worth having spare in the car for exactly that reason.
