A working dog's ration has to cover real energy demand without leaving a sensitive stomach behind, which is why grain-free working recipes usually lean on a single named protein and an easily digested carbohydrate rather than a long cereal list. Alpha's version here is built around chicken and potato.

Potato flake makes up 26.5% of the recipe, pea starch 16% and poultry meal 14%, with meat and bone meal, sugar beet pellets, whole peas at 5%, fish meal and whole linseed at 2.5% alongside brewer's yeast and prebiotic chicory root extract and MOS, each at 0.1%. Protein comes out at 25%, fat at 12%, crude fibre at 3% and crude ash at 9.5%. Alpha describe it as hypoallergenic, with no added grain, soya or dairy, and it is a complete feed for adult working dogs.

On "working dog". Alpha formulate this for dogs in active work - the protein and fat levels are set for that level of activity, not a dog that spends most of the day resting. A less active adult dog fed the same amount could end up carrying more condition than it needs, so match the portion to the dog's actual activity rather than its breed alone.

Who it's for: owners of an active or working adult dog who want a grain-free, chicken-based recipe with prebiotics included, rather than building a supplement regime on top of a plainer food.
