This is a genuine, well-established benefit rather than marketing, though it does not replace proper dental care.
Because portions for a toy breed are naturally small in absolute terms, accurate measuring matters more here than for a large dog, where a small error barely registers. A proper measuring scoop or kitchen scale, rather than guessing by eye, helps avoid slowly over or under-feeding a dog whose whole daily ration might only be a small handful.
Puppies, seniors and sensitive stomachs
A toy breed puppy has the same general need for a puppy-specific formula as any other dog, and because toy breeds mature faster and reach adult size sooner than large breeds, the switch to adult food generally happens earlier too, usually somewhere in the region of nine to twelve months. Your vet can advise on timing for your individual puppy.
Some toy breeds are also more prone to sensitive stomachs than average, so a recipe with a shorter, simpler ingredient list is worth trying if your dog has a history of digestive upset. As with any dietary change, introduce a new food gradually rather than switching all at once.
