What Zeus makes
Zeus covers two quite different parts of a dog's day. The Better Bones and Bones ranges are long-lasting wrapped chews — a rawhide-style roll or twist wrapped in a flavoured coating such as chicken, duck and cranberry, or lamb and mint — built for a dog that wants something to work on for a while rather than a quick biscuit.
The Nitro range is the other side of the brand: weighted rubber toys — balls, tuggers, a slinger and a buoy with a rope attached — aimed at dogs that play hard and go through softer toys quickly. The weighting is meant to make a toy behave differently when it rolls or floats, which is the point of buying a Nitro toy over a plain rubber one.
Who it suits, and what we carry
The wrapped chew range suits a dog who chews steadily and needs the time occupied — a wrapped roll lasts longer than a loose biscuit, which is the whole appeal. As with any long-lasting chew, size it to your dog and supervise the first few times, the same as you would with any new chew.
The Nitro toys suit a stronger, more physical player rather than a puppy or a gentle chewer — the weighting is built for dogs that will actually put force through a toy. What we currently carry from the Zeus range is shown in the grid above, and that reflects what is available to order right now rather than the brand's full catalogue.
Neither range is aimed at every dog. A light chewer will get through a wrapped bone slowly and may lose interest before it is finished, and a small or elderly dog is not the market for a weighted Nitro ball built to survive being flung around a garden by a bigger, boisterous breed.
