Who makes Eukanuba?
Eukanuba is owned and manufactured by Mars Petcare, the same company behind brands including Pedigree, Whiskas and Royal Canin. The brand started life under Procter & Gamble, alongside its sister brand Iams, before Mars bought P&G's pet care business in 2014. Since then Eukanuba has continued as a distinct brand within the Mars portfolio, aimed at the performance and breed-size-specific end of the dry dog food market.

Eukanuba's background and where it sits today
Eukanuba was originally developed by The Iams Company in the United States before both Iams and Eukanuba became part of Procter & Gamble's pet care division. Mars, Incorporated bought that business from P&G in 2014, and Eukanuba has continued to operate as its own brand within Mars's much larger pet food portfolio ever since.
The brand's recipes tend to focus on breed size — small, medium, large and giant — and life stage, positioning Eukanuba toward owners who want a food matched fairly specifically to their dog's size and activity level rather than a single one-size-fits-all formula.
What we stock, and who it suits
Our range includes Eukanuba puppy and adult recipes across several breed sizes and proteins, including large breed and grain-free options. What's shown in the grid above reflects a selection from the wider Eukanuba range rather than every product the brand makes, and that selection can change as stock does.
It tends to suit owners who want a food matched to their dog's specific size category — particularly large and giant breed owners, where breed-size-specific formulation is more likely to matter for growth and joint development than it is for a smaller dog.
The brand's positioning has stayed fairly consistent through its change of ownership: recipes are still built around breed size and life stage rather than a single generic adult formula, which is the main thing that distinguishes Eukanuba from some of the more basic everyday brands on the shelf next to it.

Common questions
- Is Eukanuba the same company as Iams?
- They're sister brands rather than the same product line — both were developed under the same corporate ownership and are now both owned by Mars Petcare, but Eukanuba and Iams remain separate brands with their own recipes.
- Is Eukanuba a good brand for large breed puppies?
- Eukanuba's range includes large and giant breed specific puppy formulas, which are designed around the slower, controlled growth rate that bigger breeds generally need. Whether a specific recipe suits your puppy is still worth checking against their individual needs, ideally with your vet's input if you're unsure.
- Does Giddy Pets stock the whole Eukanuba range?
- No, we stock a selection from the range rather than every recipe Eukanuba makes. What's shown in the grid above is what we currently have available to order.
- Is Eukanuba grain-free?
- Some Eukanuba recipes are grain-free while others include grains such as rice, so it varies by specific product rather than being true of the whole brand. Check the individual recipe's ingredients list if a grain-free formula is what you're after.
