A large-breed dog puts more strain through its joints over a lifetime than a small one does, simply from carrying more weight on the same number of legs, which is why large-breed adult formulas tend to lean harder on joint-support ingredients than standard ones.

The ingredients list opens with dried chicken and turkey — described as a natural source of glucosamine, chondroitin and taurine — before lamb at 14% and rice at 14%, followed by maize, barley, sorghum, pork fat and dried beet pulp. It's formulated for dogs from 18 months to 6 years, or 2 to 5 years for giant breeds, and Eukanuba's feeding guide covers dogs from 25kg to 90kg at 285g to 860g a day. It analyses at 23% protein, 13% fat, 6.6% ash and 2.1% fibre.
